VIU™ Loom Box

On loom defect detection of loom state or spun dyed tapes

The VIU™ Loom Box is a highly compact yet powerful inspection device for automatic defect detection of loom state rigid narrow fabrics, such as seatbelt webbing, directly on a loom. The system is designed to be compact without compromising inspection performance.

It inspects both the front and back sides of the tape. A standard VIU™ Loom Box setup can process 1 tape of 100 mm, 2 tapes up to 50 mm, or 4 tapes up to 20 mm.

The VIU™ Loom Box is can be mounted above a loom or in any other suitable area after the weaving machine. A pull motor system automatically follows the speed of the loom based on a configurable torque.

  • Defect detection at the source of the production process: Defects such as weaving defects, filamentation, damages, or contamination can be detected right away, allowing to prevent off quality.
  • Enhanced quality control: Early detection of defects significantly improves the quality of the final product, ensuring consistency and reliability.
  • Waste reduction: Detecting defects during the weaving process helps remove defective materials before they are further processed, reducing waste of resources and time.
  • Increased efficiency: Automated inspection during the weaving process reduces the need for manual inspection of loom state material, leading to faster production and lower labor costs.
  • Faster problem resolution: Operators can identify and address issues in real-time, minimizing machine downtime and production loss.
  • Consistent production: Continuous monitoring allows for adjustments and optimization of production processes, ensuring consistently high quality.
  • Better documentation and analysis: In combination with Texplorer™ DDMS, the collected inspection data can be used for quality analysis and process improvement, providing better insights into production performance and trends.
  • Defect Detected – LED indication for detected defect reported on a configurable position (offset)
  • Motor Enabled – LED indication that pull motor is enabled by external signal (for instance from activating the loom)
  • Inspection Active – LED indication informing the inspection software is active
  • Torque – adjustable torque configuring the maximum pulling resistance of the motor
  • From loom state white yarn tapes to spun dyed black
  • Inspection of all kinds of tape styles and weaving constructions
  • Detection of all kinds of surface defects, such as spots, stains, weaving defects, mispicks, knots, mark, floats, warp- and weft defects, etc.
  • Detection of single edge filaments and edge anamolies
  • Accurate width measurement (+/- 0,1mm) and detection of average-, absolute-, or relative width defects
